A day in Manchester
Yesterday, because of the teachers' strike, H asked if she could have 2 friends to sleep over and stay for the day. So, today I had a 'me' day in Manchester.
I had a mooch around the shops, as I've got vouchers left from Christmas. But it's always the way, that when you have money to spend, nothing appeals. Or as in my case, the 3 branches/concessions of the same shop, didn't have the top I wanted in my size!
I met my OH for lunch at Patisserie Valerie on Deansgate, a nice treat, then headed for home.
My train was cancelled because there had been a theft on the line. While I waited I ended up having a chat with the platform supervisor, a very friendly and entertaining man.
He actually held the train for a moment when he saw people running for it, rather than let is go. He told me that one former colleague used to get a kick out of doing that, especially with the last train! He said he's glad that guy isn't doing the job any longer.
