The White –Faced Heron
- Is New Zealand’s most common heron
- It is primarily a bird of rocky shores and estuary mudflats
- After rain, can also be seen in damp pastures and on sports fields
- will catch and consume a wide range of prey, including small fish, crabs, worms, insects, spiders, tadpole and frogs
