Sure Sign

A sure sign of Spring:

The robin that flew in front of my car showing off it's beautiful red breast.

The Oberon I am drinking while rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers.

[Oberon is a local - Michigan - beer which is only available March to Labor Day as it is a classic summer ale.]

I went for a drive and enjoyed the warmth of the sun beating down on my windshield and I could imagine what spring is supposed to feel like! With temperatures hovering around 33 today it is still winter.

Spotted these ice boats (certainly not a sure sign of spring) in front of the yacht club and on my way back into town I decided to stop and take some photos.

When I got home and showed my husband the photos he identified them as DN iceboats and I learned something new:

In 1937 the Detroit News newspaper sponsored an iceboat design contest that led to the creation of the most popular class of iceboats, the DN iceboat (originally named the "Blue Streak 60").

Tomorrow is predicted to be sunny with highs in the 40's. WooHoo! After getting used to single digits this indeed gives me hope for more signs of Spring!

Happy Weekend!
