Tonight I finally got it! With help from one of the astro photo guys I finally got the camera settings right and a couple of shots at the starry sky. Amazing! I will post them in my Blipfolio later. The camera needs to be left alone for a while and regain normal temperature. It's been really cold! But not as cold as last time, still cold though!
We looked at Jupiter and Mars throughout the large telescope and we could see the moons of Jupiter. Well, at least 3 of 4. And also the darker lines on the surface. Jupiter is my favorite planet so that was a treat! :) We looked at the twin stars Castor and Pollux and also at a star cluster with many, many, many stars.
Fortunately the guy who gave me a lift out wasn't going to be there really late so I came home rather ok. It's almost half past 1 and after I finish my cup of tea I'm going to bed.
