Roman Bridge

Walked to the Roman Bridge today. It was never an easy walk, but the heavy rain and high winds of the winter had combined to erode the riverbank and bring down some trees so that the fisherman's path was impassible in places. We had to climb up the hill and skirt the edge of the forest to get round the worst bits. The bridge, as ever, stood solid, no longer a route to anywhere, just a crossing point for the wildlife.
