A Small Tortoiseshell
I found this beautiful butterfly, the first red to be seen this year in amongst a pile of assorted debris whilst trying to get our garden into some sort of shape. It stretched its wings a few times and then, before it was overtaken in the rush for spring by all the other plants, insects and other assorted living matter that the countryside has dealt us, took to the air to disappear for ever.
