mmm, cherries
Whenever I eat cherries, I know I am simultaneously eating fruit, meat, and fungus. Cherries are the color of blood. Their flesh is dense, like a juicy steak or grilled portabello. I find a pit, like finding a bone accidentally left behind in a piece of pork. Maybe my taste buds know on a chemical, evolutionarily primitive level, how much nutrition is packed into one little bite, and my brain lumps these nutrition-dense foods together.
Regardless. They taste so good.
