Sweet mouth!

I forgot to mention that Mum and Dad arrived on Wednesday to help look after the kids on Thursday and today as we have learning conferences both days and there is no school for the kids. Mum and Dad also came to inspect the new house and help do loads of jobs for us. They seemed to love the house and were very complimentary about it which is great. Of course when we returned from work today the kids were eating sweets as grandparents just can't help themselves!

I didn't manage to take a photo yesterday but want to write about yesterday as we attended the kid's learning conferences at work. Olivia loves school and although she is very talkative (we like to say enthusiastic) she is learning to allow other children to speak and not interrupt all the time and one of the targets that she wrote for herself is not to shout out in class! We watched a performance of her in her drama class and saw a video of her working out some maths problems and she guided us through her reading and writing and science books. Her teacher told us that her spelling is incredible and told us that she has nearly completed all of the words that they teach in the next grade above her. She now has to use a different book to all the other kids in the class for her reading and writing as she has made such quick progress. Olivia really has a love for writing and has about seven books on the go at the moment - I just wish she would finish one! We also spoke to her French teacher who told us that Olivia will be placed with native french speakers next year and she showed us some work of Olivia's as she is now writing and reading in french (we knew she was reading in french as she sometimes chooses to read books to her little brother in french. Olivia seems to be enthusiastic about all subjects including art, PE and music which is great and she is busy preparing for a musical performance on the stage in April which we're looking forward to.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend Dex's learning conference so hubby had to go on his own. Dex is a happy little boy who has only recently started to show more of an interest in drawing. He doesn't make any attempt to write his name but he does recognise it. He is generally enthusiastic about most things but can be very emotional if the other kids don't do what he wants, although he loves making them all laugh. It seems to us that school is more of a challenge for Dex compared to his sister but he definitley seems to be enjoying it more and we have no concerns as we believe he'll draw or write when he's ready.
