Cotton Tree

Naturally brown cotton grows on small cotton trees, and this one is in the compound where we live. In some areas women pick this cotton, seed it by hand, spin it on drop spindles, and weave it on backstrap looms. The resulting naturally soft and beautiful fabric in various shades of brown is made into purses, placemats, and other small item for sale.
