Gullfoss
We have had a great day today. Weather was much better and we 'did' the Golden Circle which includes Pingellir (actually pronounced Thingellir), Geysir and Gullfoss waterfalls.
Pingellir is the very scenic site of the original Icelandic Parliament. There are so many great photographic locations here.
Geysir is basically what it says on the tin. It's a park of hot springs and a Geyser which fires off spectacularly about every 5 minutes. Technophobe has blipped this place and will no doubt tell you about the American guy who was standing in the line of fire with his camera at the ready when he was absolutely soaked.
The highlight however was the Gullfoss waterfalls. There was an amazing amount of water thundering over these falls after all the rain we have had. We disobeyed the instructions about the closed path and walked to the rock right above the falls where I took this picture of the water cascading down toward the fall proper.
We are now at 'The Northern Lights Inn' for our last night here in Iceland. Whether we see them or not is out of our control.
