Life in a Northern Town

Park Crew

My daughter told me today that she has chosen street photography as her GCSE photography specialism, which will require her to take over 100 photos in 3 different styles.

Not the smartest choice for such a shy and nervous girl, and she was quite shocked when I told her it would actually involve taking photos of strangers - she thought she could just take photos of the dog out on a walk. I hate doing street photography myself, but was galvanised by the mission and off we went to the park (nice and safe!)

She did very well, I made her approach friendly looking people, who were all very obliging. Then we came across this lot in the boat house; initially they were slightly hostile but then once we had explained what we were doing they insisted on posing - Sarah took this shot and I was very proud of her.

Lizzie has been de-stapled and is now walking around again. My main camera is in for a clean (the man in the shop asked what I'd been doing with it...that's a year of Blipping for you), and the broken lens is uneconomical to repair so I am selling my macro on Ebay to pay for a new lens. Oh, and I had a friend request on Facebook from an acquaintance who it turns out is using his Facebook site to claim he is the Messiah. Other than that, nothing new to report!

My plan is to Blip when I can; I have been looking at journals every day, but may not be able to comment as much as I would like. But when I discovered that my turf had been invaded I thought I should pop back in.

ps - why does my "one year ago" shot not appear on my journal???
