Somehow, we had a conversation about ironing in the pub yesterday. I continue to be surprised by some of my male acquaintances, my age or 20 years older, who are happy to say that they've never ironed a shirt in their life - 'that's the wife's / mum's job'. As far as I'm concerned they come from a different world. My dad always used to take pride in his skill with the Rowenta and, though I can't pretend that I enjoy domestic chores, I remember ironing for my mum as a young kid and, living alone, don't have any option now.
