It's a bit far to walk

It's weird when you pass somewhere you've been loads of times and notice something new. After a nice afternoon doing some extra curricular working in the office at Armitage Online I had a dentist appointment and then quickly popped in to Kendal town.
I noticed this sign post in the market square that I don't recall ever seeing before, it's four arms point to Mount Everest and Scafell pike as you can see here, the other two to New York and Rinteln - a German town that Kendal is twinned with. A curiosity as I can't see anyone finding the signs hugely beneficial for navigating.
