So I had to take a selfie today for the use of the Kings College London, Institute of Psychiatry interview panel. I am currently in the process of competing for a place to do a clinical psychology doctorate. This is my first year applying and despite having a first class degree, a published paper and almost 3 years relevant experience, I only received 1 interview and 3 outright rejections. The reason being is that Clinical Psychology is super competitive with a lot of well qualified applicants competing for places. The Institute of Psychiatry had over 800 applicants this year, and I have been lucky enough to make it to the final 90 interviewing for 21 places. My aim for this year was to get at least one interview so I could get some helpful feedback even if I don't get a place (as you cannot request feedback if you don't make it to interview stage). The high standard of competition means I am getting very nervous about May 14th!
