Amazing find . . .
Staying with the lovely H & C on our way down to Edinburgh. The perfect hosts, they took us to the Cheese Farm for a wonderful tasty lunch and then on to a little gem of a place.
Hidden away in Fife is the Coaltown of Wemyss School of Needlework, founded in 1877 by the local "lady of the manor" to teach the wives and daughters of the miners a useful and profitable handicraft. Lots of beautiful examples of quilted and embroidered quilts, jackets, cushions and hangings but unfortunately they don't allow photography in the exhibition area. The shop is full of embroidery silks and wools for crewel work, which they still teach. Well worth a visit if you are in the area but they don't seem to have a website.
A very relaxed and happy day, we already feel as if we have had a holiday and we only left home at midnight yesterday!
