OUTBACK AUSTRALIA..... Back When...#22

..... this is another in my series of pics from OUTBACK Australia "Back When"!

This one however I found in a book at our friends place in Canberra. The book The Way We Were... written by an Alan J. Witiker, is one of the best books with pics and comment on past life and activities in "Back When" Australia.

My attention was drawn to the book in the first instance by the Dedication page where he has dedicated the book to his parents Bruce and Norma Whitiker who apparently lived in our home town of Penrith New South Wales.

But this page in particular caught my eye with all the news and "who har" going on presently about our national air carrier QANTAS.

It told the brief story of it's history original office starting in Longreach Queensland in 1920 as the "Queensland & Northern Territory Aerial Service Ltd" - hence the later name being QANTAS. This WIKI link may give some further info.

Have a look in  LARGE and you may be able to read the detail.

We had a good trip home this afternoon and just arrived a short while back, so hope to start catching up on comment tomorrow.

UPDATE: Re Estelle ( Raestelle, on checking my emails the following reply from Estelle's daughter gives an indication of how she is planned to be home today.

"Hi Tom..this is April..Estelle's daughter just giving you and everyone an update on mum..your comments, thoughts and prayers have been very humbling and so beautiful..Thankyou!!!! Mum is coming home from hospital tomorrow which is very exciting...she is making wonderful progress, although unable to talk yet but has full movement and well on her way to getting back onto her computer and her Blip friends!!! She will soon we hope be back down the river taking more beautiful photos for you all to see. thankyou and everyone for all your love and support, it means so much.
