Available
I've blipped this Martello tower at Sutton a couple of times before, but it still fascinates me. Today as I braved the biting gale blowing in from the gale I saw that the tower is now available to rent. I got the impression that things were being pitched at corporate lettings ('special occasions' were mentioned), but now that I've checked it online I see it's been renovated on a quite domestic scale.
Whatever about renting the place, I certainly wouldn't fancy standing out on the balcony with a glass of wine today. The wind was bitingly cold, my hands were firmly stuffed in my pockets when I wasn't using the camera, I felt as if I was contracting lock-jaw, my toes were like little blocks of ice in my shoes ... basically, it was a day to be wrapped up better than I was.
The cliffside path was blocked in places with lying water from all the recent rain, and clambering onto the grass beside it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. Still I soldiered on for a while before turning back to the cosiness of the car interior. I met others along the way, and we all nodded at one another and agreed it was 'a cold one'.
