Travels Through A Lens

Surreal

It was a very surreal day in more ways than one.

I had asked Mr John to help with a photography assignment where my theme is surrealism. I have a papier mache dog's head (that is another story) and so we hatched a plan for the dog to be wearing tweeds. As you have seen from John's journal he acquired some plus fours and he looks very much the part especially with his moustache.

Anyway, as I had arranged to meet up with him after he finished work and the morning was another surreal event I won't go in to, it was a mad dash to catch the last steam train leaving Bolton Abbey and get some photos and lots of looks from the few people on the platform and they were taking lots of photos on their phones - not of the steam train but Mr John. Then after the steam train left Bolton Abbey station jumped in the car and drove to Embsay station where the train would arrive and over the bridge to catch it as it went under. Then a few more photos as the sun was so bright acting like a spot light.

I like this one as John is caught in the light whilst one of the train drivers - Robert (otherwise a physics teacher) and the guard - Jack and the man and his dog who were lovely although I wouldn't cast the dog in future photo shots as he couldn't stand still, really captured the day and the people we met who all volunteer to keep these steam trains running.

Mr John and I had requests for copies of the photos from three of the people working there which we will send on to them.

All in all a very surreal day. Thanks Mr John and it's to the bright lights of Leeds for the next instalment of surrealism.
