Huawei is located very, very near to one of Shenzhen's Focconn factories. Yep, where iPhones are assembled. I remember a few months before the iPhone 5v and 5s were launched there being a staggering jam of trucks waiting to enter the Foxconn factory. This is nothing ice seen before or since. When or if I see another jam I'll know the iPhone 6 is imminent.


There's also a marked difference in the types of employees Foxconn employs mainly production line workers whereas some of the smartest people in China work for Huawei. Huawei prefers to seek recruits who don't come from a privileged background. If one comes from a poorer background one is hungrier for success.
