Harringworth Viaduct
This railway viaduct completed in 1878 spans the Welland valley between the villages of Harringworth in Northamptonshire and Seaton in Rutland and is sometimes known as the Seaton Viaduct! It is now mainly used for freight trains and steam trains on special excursions. It is 1275 yards long and has 82 arches each spanning 40 ft and is the longest masonry viaduct across a valley in Britain. It is now a Grade II listed structure.
After a frosty start, it has been a lovely day and although we watched several red kites circling overhead they were determined not to be photographed today!
