Palm Oil

Palm Oil is a very popular industry in Indonesia, and one that is threatening environmental stability, biodiversity, and livelihoods. Though it makes a lot of money (which mostly goes to big companies), it's very damaging to the environment. It's sad to see such a beautiful place like Borneo - home to some of the world's last remaining orangutans, being degraded for this cash crop. Here's the palm oil after it's been harvested - it has 36 hours to travel (by boat) to the processing facility to press these reddish kernels and extract the palm oil. First, these chickens decided it was an easy meal! Take that, palm oil tycoons!
