A Boat to Sukadana
On Thursday we got up early and headed back to the harbor to catch the 8:30 boat to Sukadana in West Kalimantan. It was a cramped, windy, 5-hour journey through mostly small river communities lined with Mangrove trees but we also spent a little time on the open sea.
After arriving, we were met by our hosts for our site visit and checked into the Grand Mahkota hotel - the only one in Sukadana. It was pretty nice (despite weak AC that forced us to get fans - my colleague's caught on fire!) and right on the ocean so the views were spectacular!
After a tiring day visiting the health clinic and attending a community meeting with farmers to convince them to join the training program, we returned to the hotel for a feast of Indonesian dishes.
