Loch Drunkie
We got up and headed off at a reasonable time this morning, with a plan!
As the forecast was good we decided to get some training in for the forthcoming 23 mile Kiltwalk we are doing for charity. As most of this will be on Tarmac we need to get some training in on that type of terrain.
I purchased new walking shoes yesterday as my boots will be too rigid for that distance on Tarmac and I was worried that trainers won't give enough support and aren't waterproof.
The path around Loch Katrine was perfect for this with no traffic. When we arrived there it was mobbed, no parking spaces at all! There was some type of race on there so we had to hatch a plan B pretty quickly. We settled on parking at the exit of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Drive and taking it from there. We ended up doing a shorter walk of only about 10-11 miles (we had planned on about 15) but it was hillier and therefore more strenuous. We walked the entire forest drive and then over the Duke's pass to get back to the car. It was the perfect day for walking and this was the shot I selected of the 96 that I took.
Two blisters that were patched up at the half way point with Compeed, apart from that the shoes seem good.
