Top Of The World, Ma!

We went for a walk on Wavering Down near Axbridge today. This is the view looking towards the Mendips and Cheddar Reservoir, where the yachts were out in force making the most of the howling gale strong breeze; the pimple on the distant horizon to the right is Glastonbury Tor.

In other directions you could see way down the Somerset coastline or up the Bristol Channel and across to South Wales.

Having only lived in Somerset for 35 years, we then made our first visit to Axbridge which is actually wonderfully unspoilt with its medieval church, well and Tudor beamed Hunting Lodge in the old Town Square; can thoroughly recommend the Almshouse Tea Room, if you happen to be that way.
