Cumulonimbus incus Cloud over the Isle of White
Enjoying a breezy walk on Brading Down I was heading back to the car with some nice landscapes in the bag when just as the sun was setting this cloud the like of which I had never seen before appeared over the Solent.
I was transfixed by the sight for several minutes before remembering to take some shots in the rapidly gathering dusk. Thank goodness for the Olympus 4-way stabilisation as there was no time to set up the tripod.
Several members of the Isle of Wight Hobby Photographers Facebook site posted pictures of the event and I am told by one of them that the clouds are known as Cumulonimbus incus. Whatever, it it gave the feeling something apocalyptic was about to happen.
