The feistiest...

...hummingbird in the North America, that's how this little fellow is known. The Rufous Hummingbird migrates away from here for the winter, but now they have returned. At only 3" (8cm), they are tiny, noisy and and experts at flying and pintpoint maneuvers. They eat nectar from flowers, as well as insects. Maybe one of these days I can catch their vivid iridescent color in the right light. In the yard I find myself at times ducking the relentless fly-bys.
