Healing

On the right is an x-ray of my broken foot 6 weeks ago, 7 Feb. On the left is an x-ray taken today.

Even to the untrained eye you can see my fracture is healing well :-)

I'm finished with hospital appointments and physio has moved from weekly to 2 weekly appointments. In another 3-4 weeks the bone should be fully healed.

My graduated return to normal hpx activities continues. My next goals are to:

- bike to work from home and back again in a week to 10 days. In the meantime I'll drive part way with my bike on the back of the car and gradually reduce the driving part.

- in 3 weeks my goal is to walk 1 hour off road on uneven ground. Weeks 1 and 2 have goals involving time and flat, hills and a mix of paved and uneven ground.

I have new exercises to strengthen the muscles, ligaments and tendons in my foot and ankle. They'll help me deal successfully with uneven ground.

When I can walk for an hour I'll be allowed to gradually reintroduce running.

It's still a 'dodgy' foot in the process of healing, becoming strong and fully functional. I'll have to remain patient and back off when it hurts.

I'm enormously pleased and grateful for where I'm at :-)
