The Oak Tree
This is the field behind our house just a short while ago with the sun setting and lighting up the branches of this massive oak tree which must be hundreds of years old.
This field is (was) called the "Tea Field" and back in 1972 when we moved in an annual sheep fair and sale was held there together with donkey rides for children.
At this end of the field the was a large house called Lyme House which was knocked down many years ago. I once was told by an old builder that as a boy he had helped with its demolition and said that old cars were pushed into the cellars before the ground was leveled and that they must still be there!
The land on which the house stood had been earmarked for many things including a new road but just at the end of last year it was bought by a local school as playing fields and a garden for the children. Hopefully this will secure this view for us for many years to come
