Hitting the beach.

The recent 'storm' has shaken up the dunes and strewn the sand with large cobbles. It'll take a while for gentler tides to sort it back out again. Doesn't look very inviting at the moment so the only thing hitting it today is the rain, sleet and hail. Occasionally, the odd beam of sunlight would bathe it too.

When the clouds break, it is incredibly bright. But when they come back, and they invariably do, everything goes dark. In the urban environments that I remember, there was always artificial light pouring from buildings and streetlights. Here, when the sun is obscured, there is nothing to break the gloom.

Except maybe for the awesome spectacle of it. This was the view East to Lopness and Langamay. The first is about to get creamed. The other has five minutes to get indoors and put the kettle on!
