Quod oculus meus videt

Big Skies

Weekends usually include a drive along the A5 to Lichfield to See Mum. I always admire these trees but rarely get the opportunity to stop and take a photograph. Even if I do they are surprisingly difficult to compose a good shot with as the trees in the foreground obscure the view and the road at this point is illuminated by tall street lights. In the end I had to use a portrait framing and stand precariously alongside the road and next to the M6 Toll bridge to get this shot.

Funnily enough I took a shot of these trees on the same weekend last year, although the conditions were very different!

Thanks for all of the lovely comments about the Lovers of Light competition where one of my images is in the final 10. I realise I need to thank those of you that took part in the vote on Blipfoto to select the original shortlist of images. When you see the quality of the other images I am humbled that people should think my image is worthy of inclusion. The competition is getting national coverage.
