Anchor of Mv "La Salle"
Blip taken from near Rousse Pier looking East toward Vale Church.
This a is a fair sized anchor and for more information click here!
The information plate reads:
From "La Salle" Wrecked Guernsey West Coast 28 May 1965.
Not all that long ago to some of us so, a bit surprising really as the ship would have had modern navigation aids...pre GPS but she would probably have had Decca which was quite an accurate positioning system.
That said, our west coast is extremely dangerous with vicious outlying rocks just waiting to reward a few minutes of inattention.
Best given a wide berth by mariners without local knowledge!
As you can see it is quite a nice day but alternating rain, sun, hail etc and pretty chilly in the wind.
Hope you are all enjoying a nice spring weekend!
