The area I work is a mix of old houses and old light-industrial warehouses and factories. These later have been, or are being, repurposed as offices and 'budget housing'. For little less than I pay for my studio flat, you can rent a bedroom, perhaps with an ensuite, and share kitchen facilities with 50 to 100 other people. I can see the use of such housing, but I am astonished by how much they charge for it!
