perfect formation...

...of geese flying

on a somewhat cloudy day - yet still with blue skies peeking through... it's funny that - in all my time photographing my lovely geese flying - and landing - i have never been able to quite capture them - in such perfect formation - true, i've gotten them coming and going - rounding the bend - over the mountains - hugging curves - approaching the waters edge - gettting their webbed feet locked down like landing gear - harkening to each other with loud honks of instruction - yet - over the years - i have not once - achieved this perfect - wonderful - graceful - dance of a formation in the sky - where they follow along the path - with each other - so closely in sync - each knowing what the other is doing - and knowing what their own individual role is

when i heard them, glancing up - i was distracted - so merely snapped only 1 shot - i'm so grateful it turned out - because i kept coming back to it - not realizing - until it dawned on me - the real significance of the capture - and just why - this particular one so critically - has made for...
