Silfra

What better dive site for the first dive of 2014 than between two continents??

We spent our first day's diving on Iceland at Silfra. Our dive was between the two tectonic plates of Europe & North America. It's been on my wish list for years & it didn't disappoint! The crack isn't very wide, just a few metres wide & about 21m deep at it's deepest point. I got to the heady depth of about 11m but our average depth was about 5m for the whole dive. The water was gin clear and it was a really relaxing, chilled out dive.

The car park is on the other side of the road & I couldn't resist blipping this sign :-)

The weather was pretty bonkers......a biting, hooley of a wind blowing snow all over us all afternoon!
