Local bike shop had a charity sale. Bought a cheap old racer to do up. It'll be good soon but I think I was overwhelmed with thoughts of charity givingness and probably paid too much for it. Still, I enjoy fixing stuff so shouldn't complain. I think the only way that stuck solid seat post will come out is with caustic soda.
