The Springfields were formed around 1960, and chose their name when rehearsing in a field in Somerset, in the Spring!! Dustys' real name was Mary Isobel Catherine O'Brien, born 1939, and died in 1999 - aged 60 years. She was awarded the OBE and she was known as one of the most notable white soul singers.
