Millmoor

First day of the new year and our first away day of 2014. At Rotherham United for the league one fixture. The millers are enjoying a renaissance under new ownership and the management of Steve Evans. It wasn't always this way and like many clubs, they have felt the cuts of the premiership sword that has sliced through football at all levels. It was my first time back in about 20 years, when I had come here to Millmoor. Following the usual internal implosion and a dispute between owner and landlord, the team had been blowing around the Don Valley, Sheffield. But now had come home to an all new arena, The New York. Unlike a lot of deserted grounds, Millmoor was not derelict and in fact still had a pitch. But the locked gates, peeling paint and washed away memories of another era told the real story, as it sits now, forever in the shadow.
