Brown Out
It has been a hectic, good, bad kind of day.
Started with a bike ride to breakfast at the Paris Coffee Shop. If you have never been to the 1960's come by and I will take you on a time travel. All the waitresses are white and 40+. All the dishwashers and janitors are black. All the food is deep fried except for the crème pies.
Then went to our CPA. That went much better than expected. I had on the first try all that we needed. Or at least we think we have it all.
On my way out, a fried called to say his dad was nearing death. We met for an extended conversation over several cups of coffee. The topic of what is life and when does it stop was the main focus. But we ventured into lots of other less heady topics.
These steps are leading up to the patio at the Live Oak Bar. While waiting for my friend to show up, I walked around looking for interesting stuff. All the lines caught my eye.
Back home to work and call my cousins. Their mom had fallen and was in ICU. Head injuries. Heart had stopped but restarted. Bleak prognosis that seems to be getting better all the time.
More work. Walk to the bank to talk to our financial planner. Her job is to make everything look rosy. She seemed to succeed. I won't have to beg for the first decade of my retirement. But after that . . . ;-)
Reconnected with more cousins and called my sister. Strange how I have technology to connect me to the entire world, but too often I forget to call those I have known for decades and decades and decades.
