Budapest by day
This is the same view as last night, essentially from the same vantage point on the Citadel. The citadel is a fort and gun emplacement built to tame Budapest's citizens after a revolution in the mid 19th century. The guns were not used. It is now topped by a statue put there during the communist regime which has been retained but given a different meaning, now symbolising freedom. The views over the Danube are stunning.
