Why do we burn the fallas?

Almost 9 million euros were spent on the fallas this year! Incredible considering they end up getting burned. Such excess. So what's the point of the fallas? People have different opinions and they get to express themselves on this sculpture. Trying to make sense of this celebration, I thought about the Rose Parade in southern California. A lot of time and effort are spent preparing the floats only to enjoy the event for a few days. After the flowers wilt and die. This is similar to the fallas. There's beauty, but it doesn't last.

At any rate, my time in Valencia has been my best trip so far in Spain. I was in the company of wonderful friends, we enjoyed the weather, and we ate extremely well. It was a weekend to remember.
