Moon base

It does look rather futuristic but is actually the “Gardens by the Bay” in Singapore city taken from the Singapore Flyer (Singapore's equivalent of the London Eye).

We are in the Fairmount Singapore Hotel which is across the road from Raffels Hotel - from our room, on the 20th Floor, we are looking down into the grounds of Raffels Hotel. The old Family Services Club, opposite Raffels hotel, still exists but is now the Singapore Air Force Warrant Officers and Specialist Club. Spent the morning mooching around and visiting the: War Memorial Park, Singapore Flyer, Youth Olympic Park, Padang, Singapore Cricket Club (I was a member of the Club back in the 60's), Raffles Landing Site and then the skies opened and we had heavy rain, thunder and lightning. Took refuge in various places, including the Arts House, to avoid getting too wet but in the end we could see there was little chance of the rain stopping so headed back to the hotel arriving soaked from head to foot despite having an umbrella and waterproofs.

Tomorrow we are on an all day tour of Singapore Island visiting a variety of places.
