6 Times

We wandered up to the National Gallery in time to catch the first free Gallery bus which took us to Modern Two to see the JD Fergusson exhibition, the latest in the Scottish Colourists series. We had previously seen the Cadell and Peploe exhibitions and this one was just as good. We both like the colourists work very much.

We had some lunch in the gallery cafe, then wandered across the road to Modern one. Just at the gate there is one of the six Anthony Gormley statues in his "6 Times" installation. The other statues are placed at points down the Water of Leith on its way to the sea. We had a look round the exhibition by Louise Bourgeois, A Woman Without Secrets. In the upper galleries we found an interesting exhibition of prints including works by Picasso, Cezanne, and Hockney. There were also new acquisitions with paintings by Joan Eardley and others.

The free bus took us back to the city centre in the afternoon in time for us to have some afternoon tea before whiling away some time in bookshops before it was time for the train.
