The advantages are obvious - they have a whole lane to themselves down the centre of the road - no other traffic, no queues - you can sit on them and smile smugly to the people sitting in their cars in traffic jams as you glide past them......

But, if you read carefully you will have noted that they glide down the CENTRE of the road which means that when you get out you have to dice with death to get safely to the pavement.
