SMOKE

A landfill many miles away caught on fire and has been smoking up the surrounding area for over a day. Depending on the direction of the wind, the smoke has almost made it all the way to downtown Bangkok.

Even in our air conditioned room up on the sixth floor, the smoke found its way inside. This evening we all left with burning eyes and headaches from breathing in the smoke, and we aren't even considered close to the landfill. We joked that the disposable face mask people will be making good sales today, but it's probably true. I hope those who live and work closer were able to escape to relatives' houses or at least the opposite direction of the blowing wind.
