First day of gardening

I've been meaning to get outside and sort the garden for a while - I managed to get started at last.

As well as pruning the Clematis, this Cytisus 'Pineapple Broom' has had to go.

It has not really recovered from being toppled last year on a windy Edinburgh day.

I did manage to get all the roots out so I wait to see if a new life starts.
