Metamorphis
I got a call from a junior class today - one of their chrysalids had just 'hatched'. I missed the point where the butterfly was totally folded but did manage to get it while the wings were still partly closed. It is amazing how quickly they dry and are ready to fly.
It is also interesting that when you see the chrysalis just before the butterfly emerges they are black with just a window of wing patterning and you assume that is the color of the chrysalis itself - but when they have broken out you realize that it was the color of the butterfly and the case itself is clear.
