Ray of Light

On this day in 1908, the 'Otago Witness' published a paper of skin pigmentation, describing how pigment in skin was essential. Major Charles E Woodruff, a US Army Surgeon, published "The Effects of Tropical Light on White Men".
Se surmised that man is pigmented in direct relation to the amount of pigmentation that his skin can expect to be subjected in his part of the world. He described how, with the advent of global mobility through immigration on ships, blonde people would die out as brunette people were the only ones suited to moving around the world as they were 'bound to survive due to being properly pigmented'...
106 years later, I saw a blonde man today. It can't be too sunny in England... ;)
