A dull day
What a fabulous night that was! Spiers and Boden were wonderful. It’s sad to think they won’t be playing as a duo again, but the good news is that they are placing even more focus on Bellowhead, where they gather lots of other musicians around them for a glorious evening of music. But you will have heard me refer to this on several occasions.
And the venue was fine . . . in the end! We were a bit concerned as we arrived at the the Trades Club building and climbed the steps. It all looked a bit shabby, to say the least. We were early, but were ‘allowed’ into the members bar. That was a very strange place indeed. The characters there would have kept a portrait blipper occupied for a long time. We escaped eventually and made our way into a concert room, which very quickly filled up. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere and it was obvious that the concert was a sell out. We were all very close to the stage, which was great and the two musicians had a super rapport with the audience. A really excellent evening. A long drive home, but it was worth it.
A day at home today - dull and wet. So a few flowers from our blossoming forsythia.
Today I finished ‘The Goldfinch’ and started reading ‘The Bookshop’ by Penelope Fitzgerald. Interesting to go from one author who adds all the detail to one who misses an awful lot out. I suppose the comparative size of the two books is very telling.
