Grumpy Old Man

By Maurice1948

Another wet day!

The rain continues to fall, though the sun popped out briefly this morning. This part of the garden is called The Old Tennis Court, for reasons unnecessary to state! The large rhododendron coming into flower is Rh. macabeanum, from Assam and Manipur. Just beyond the seat is a young cabbage tree, Cordyline australis, which has seeded itself from a larger plant nearby, the only self-seeded one I've seen here. This so-called Cabbage Tree, from New Zealand, is of course neither a cabbage nor a tree, but is currently classified in the family Asparagaceae - the asparagus family!

This path often floods when it rains, the water having nowhere to go.
