M R Ill us!

Last fall I took several of these amaryllis bulbs from my garden where I had planted them in the spring. I cut the leafy tops off and let them dry for a couple of days. I then stored them in my cellar. I got a bucket and filled it with the stuff you get for gerbil cages and lined the plastic bucket with it. I placed the bulbs in layers with the cedar chips and then closed the lid. Late January I took this one out and soaked it for about an hour to rehydrate it. I then planted it and look at how beautiful it turned out!

Since the bulbs were on the pricey side, it is fun to know I now have a system to save them and keep them blooming.
